Robinson: 10 Survival Stories

Little Robinson

Discover Little Robinson, a game of clues for children to explore the exhibition Robinson: 10 survival stories in an educational and fun way.

The exhibition Robinson: 10 Survival Stories, which addresses the universal theme of human survival and our behaviour in situations of extreme need, has 3 thematic spaces: Robinson Crusoe. Biography of a book; Robinson Crusoe before Robinson; and Robinson Crusoe after Robinson.

The starting point is the novel Robinson Crusoe, a great reference in the field of survival and adventure.

Survival Stories

Robinson has long been an adjective, a category that includes people who have had to face extreme conditions. The exhibition focuses on these real Robinsons.

The exhibition brings together 10 stories of true survivors, men and women who overcame extreme situations, presented in a very visual way through 10 large format comics, in four languages, Basque, Spanish, English and French. Four of the comics recover graphic work by authors from the 16th and 19th centuries, three of them unfortunately anonymous, who deserve to go down in the history of comics for the quality of their creations. The texts and images have been recovered and updated. Another six comics are newly created with scripts by Julián Díaz and illustrations by Eva Gutiérrez. The graphic design is by Alicia Prieto.

Curator

The curator of the exhibition, Julián Díaz, a professional with extensive experience in the production and installation of exhibitions for museums and interpretation centres, has spent years focusing on the study and documentation of the sailings to the Spice Islands and the stories of survival over the last few centuries. He is also the author of the book JS Elkano. Tras la huella, in Spanish and Basque, published with Itsasmuseum Bilbao, on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name held in commemoration of the 5th centenary of the first round-the-world voyage.
