Game to discover the museum
Families can play different games, in Basque or Spanish, to visit the Museum in a self-guided, fun and educational way. When they enter the Museum, they can request a free folder with the material at the ticket office, and after completing all the tests or challenges they receive a personalised diploma as a prize.
Itsasmuseum’s treasures
Visiting families have at their disposal a creative pop-up map-guide, in Basque or Spanish, so that during their visit they can discover some of the museum's ‘treasures’ in a self-guided, fun and educational way. It is a map with 6 important pieces of Itsasmuseum. Each one of them has a ‘Did you know what...?’ and a question or ‘quiz’.
These are the correct answers:
Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium and Itsasmuseum Bilbao
Within the framework of its educational programmes and the commitments of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium and Itsasmuseum Bilbao have developed a card game, especially aimed at schools, to bring the process of the urban water cycle and its importance in guaranteeing the sustainability of the planet in a fun and playful way.
The card game includes an educational part with drawings and simple definitions of different aspects and facilities related to water supply and sanitation, among other aspects. The aim is to reinforce the knowledge acquired in the classroom, standardising terms such as reservoir, spring, tank or storm tank, and to familiarise the children with important processes that allow the purification of water for human consumption and the treatment of wastewater for its return to the environment.
The game is made up of 40 cards with more than 150 questions, which, on the one hand, deal with all kinds of questions about the processes linked to the urban water cycle and the specific installations that the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium has throughout the territory and, on the other, include questions that have to do with the estuary, the sea and the coast, and which form part of the Itsasmuseum's didactic programme.
A space for the entertainment and amusement of children
A space especially designed for children, equipped with educational tools and games that encourage families to extend their visit. The educational classroom will remain open during the museum's normal opening hours, except when the activities of the educational programme are taking place.
A different way of understanding the permanent exhibition
Among the resources located in the didactic classroom, there are seven scenes represented with Playmobil clicks, which represent the content of the Museum in an attractive way for families. In each Playmobil scene there are some hidden clicks. Will you be able to find them all?
Celebrate your maritime birthday at Itsasmuseum!
A didactic and fun way to celebrate your birthday in a special environment, where you can participate in an original game of clues with your friends and make a craft that you can take home as a souvenir of an unforgettable day.
It is possible to complement this workshop with a snack offered by Nave 9.
Don't miss the opportunity to climb aboard the classic boats and sailing ships that visit us.
Through this programme, children and their families can enjoy the experience of boarding a historic boat and discovering the secrets of sailing.
Sports and cultural activities for families
Activity designed jointly between Itsasmuseum and Bilbobentura, which encourages you to enjoy some of the historical and architectural landmarks of Bilbao, while learning about the enormous transformation of the city in recent years, from a different perspective. The family visit starts at the Museum and continues by canoe or SUP (Stand Up Paddle) along the Estuary or by bicycle along its banks.

Board game
A collaborative, fun and educational board game in which children between 6 and 10 years of age become drops of coloured water that sail along the Bilbao estuary to reach the sea, the mouth of the estuary, the ‘Abra’. Along the way they will have to overcome many trials and difficulties, while they get to know Itsasmuseum. This game can be downloaded free of charge, in Basque or Spanish, and then printed out and played at home or in schools.
